Jayar Bass

Jayar Bass is a digital artist and musician in the Philadelphia area with over 25 years of experience in technology and visual arts.

His computer brain started its life when he taught himself to program Basic on a TRS-80 hooked to a cabinet TV in the living room, and then schooling the Commadore 64 and Apple IIe programs in his gifted student program classes from 1st-4th grade. He made a few simple animations, his favorite being a "RADAR" screen with a spinning "scanning" line and random dots that would move around the screen that assisted with playing army like a regular kid with GI-Joe's and little green army toys.

Later when computers exploded in the 90's, he was turned loose with his first IBM 8086 with a modem. In high school, he was proficient enough that my computer classes became tutoring sessions. He would finish the classes assignment in minutes, and then walk around and help others, as their happy teacher got a chance to get some of her other work done. Then he figured out how to network the entire chain of Mac's so that the class didn't have to battle over one machine to print something in the only color printer available at the time.

During the end of his senior year of high school, he joined a company called Dash Network, created their logo, taught himself web design overnight to ace the interview for a position as Webmaster at one of their sister companies, CyberNet Technologies, by noon the next day. His computer science career was a straight climb from there. Within a very short time starting with the company, he was building computers, managing servers at their ISP, and creating websites and graphics for all clients.

Since then, he's been a backbone for many startup companies creating ads, websites, animations, videos, corporate branding, as well as visuals for sales teams. Adding to his coding experience, he learned many scripting and programming languages and have utilized them for (and sometimes beyond) their own capacity for clients and personal projects. Two of his favorite 'useless acheivements' were; 1) creating the first character animation in Bryce 3D (why would you?), and 2), creating the first mouse-over GUI with mIRC scripting (useless eyecandy).

If you browse the site you may notice a few images with "Pixelmechanic.net" watermarks. I am the original Pixelmechanic, and have been online since the days of BBS's. The name was abandoned after too many impostors dragged the name through the dirt with mediocre web work and amateur graphic design.
